Carla Arend

IDC Program Director for European STORAGE Software, IDC

Carla Arend is a program director with the European Business and Enterprise Solutions (BES) team, responsible for managing the European information management research service. Arend provides industry clients with key insight into market dynamics, vendor activities, and end-user trends in information management and storage software and services markets. She is also responsible for the Western European storage software data tracking product.
In addition to syndicated research, Arend has worked on many custom consulting projects identifying opportunities in the European storage software and services market and has authored white papers on subjects such as Big Data, cloud storage, data protection and recovery in virtualised environments, archiving software, and virtualisation software.
Arend is regularly asked to speak at industry events, strategy workshops, sales kick-offs and trainings, partner events and end-user events.
Before taking up her current role, Arend spent five years with the European Software group, where she worked on the Internet Commerce Market Model, conducted security and systems management research, and was responsible for managing IDC's European software trackers.
Arend holds a BA in business administration from University of Mannheim and an MSc in business administration and management of technology from Copenhagen Business School, in addition to course work at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) in Bangkok.

Severin Canisius as Senior Manager is responsible for more than 14 years for the IT infrastructure at Jack Wolfskin. The IT strategy focused on Microsoft and NetApp was developed by him. He is firmly confident that crucial systems have to be internally mastered.
In order to provide optimal support for the company’s expansion he has decided to modernize the storage infrastructure. John Rollason is Director, Products, Solutions & Alliances Marketing EMEA at NetApp. In this role, he not only works closely with the regional and worldwide marketing teams but also with sales and system engineering. His main tasks include internal and external communication regarding NetApp technologies and solutions as well as messaging and competitive positioning. His main focus areas are cloud, virtualization and networking.

John has been with NetApp since May 2005, initially holding the role of Product Marketing Manager for UK and Ireland. Before joining NetApp, John spent over eight years at Nortel in a variety of positions in system engineering, business development and product marketing. John speaks regularly at industry events and attended The University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne gaining an M. Eng (Hons) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering.

He is a Member of the Institution of Engineering & Technology and also blogs regularly on IT industry trends and the impact of NetApp:
